New this week

I'm adding two great books this week. Two very different books.

Table for Five is by Northwest author Susan Wiggs. The ups and downs of love and family life can be a roller-coaster ride -- thrilling, unpredictable and downright terrifying, yet filled with incredible delight. And Sean and Lily discover the possibilities that make everything seem worthwhile -- a future filled with hope, happiness and the certainty that trusting love is the best choice of all.

Meanwhile, The Deep Dark, by Seattle-based author Gregg Olsen, tells the tragic story of the Sunshine Mine fire that killed scores of miners in 1972. It tells the story of Kellogg, Idaho and America?s richest silver mine and what happened in 1972 and since. Olsen has been a journalist and investigative author for more than two decades.

Pacific Northwest authors continue to have two books on the Northwest Bestseller list. Chuck Palahniuk's new book, Haunted, is a actually a collection of stories told by 'writers' on a writers' retreat. They are some of the weirdest stories around. And, teenager Christopher Paolini's Eragon continues to sell well more than a year after it's original release. It's now in paperback. Eragon is a fantasy that I couldn't put down. It follows a boy who finds a magic stone eventually leading him to a dragon. Well, you gotta read it.

The second book in the trilogy that started with Eragon is due for release August 23rd. Christopher Paolini says he's been working on Eldest for months. In a recent newsletter, Paolini says "I pushed myself with Eldest, both in terms of the characters, the story, and what I attempted with my technique. All I can say for sure right now -- being so close to my own work -- is that the completion of my second novel marks the end and beginning of an era for me."

Order Eldest now for under $15.00 (it will list for $21.00).
